Suncorp House Insurance

Suncorp traces its history back to 1916 when it was still an insurance office. It then adopted the name State Government Insurance Office or SGIO before expanding its operations into other fields like general insurance, life insurance, and compulsory third party insurance. It then added operations in superannuation, finance operations, and building society.

In 2001, it acquired 50% of the shares of AMP Limited in motor vehicle insurer RACQ based in Queensland. A year later, the group adopted the name Suncorp. Suncorp is involved in banking, wealth management, investment management, and insurance, with its Suncorp House Insurance business.
